Tony,
be prepared for a long haul, and also be prepared to change strategies, keep your doctor informed. If Celexa does work, which it doesn't for everyone, it takes a couple of weeks to kick in, and going off the effexor is a bear. How the ssri family of drugs affects different people, one working for some, not for another, is a conundrum even for the professionals. Do everything you can to keep the stress in your life to a minimum, during this time, although I know that's easier said than done. And consider the possibility of finding alternative treatments to drug therapy. They work well short term, but can do more harm than good long term, in my opinion. If you have deep psychological scarring, using drug therapy as a solution is, at best inadequate, like putting a bandaid on a femoral artery gash.
