Angel,

Anecdotally speaking, Ritalin caused me to become VERY depressed, but it took awhile to do so. I'm a BP II, but I was initially misdiagnosed as ADHD and prescribed Ritalin. At first the Ritalin was great! My concentration, focus, and motivation were incredible. After about two months, however, I became very moody and the pdoc added an SSRI. The SSRI and Ritalin pushed me into mania (or severe hypomania) where I stayed for about two years. Then, rather suddenly, the Ritalin stopped "working" when I took my daily doses and I dropped into a hole of depression so deep that I absolutely could not get out.

Just because Ritalin did this to me, this does not mean that it is bad for everyone. YMMV.
