It will definately put you to sleep if you take it at night. The good thing is that it take effect really fast so you will know if it will help pretty quickly. I only tried it for a few weeks. I didn't really care for it. It made me feel like a zombie, kind of loaded and heavy. I had pretty good luck with a low dose of Risperdal for awhile. I am afraid of the anti-psychotic meds after hearing the different long term problems people have had with them. Have you tried other meds for OCD? Such as Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, etc.? Did you have any luck with any of them?
I think you're absolutely right to be concerned about the long-term effects of even atypical A-P's. As far as I can tell, they should be used with disorders like OCD ONLY when comorbid psychosis is present. Period. I cannot understand why they would be given in any other circumstance.I have heard that clomipramine is extremely effective for OCD.
