You should do what your doctor tells you.
We CANNOT know all the details of your particular situation, it's impossible.

But I do know that death (or major illness, or emergency room visits) as a result of your doctor's orders is very very bad for business. So unless your doctor is specifically telling you to do something you know is dangerous, hang in there, the doc probably has a reason for doing what he/she does.

My guess would be that you're on two temporarily (it wouldn't work to start two simultaneously, you'd never know which worked!) and one will be taken away soon, or you're on lower-than-average doses of each and perhaps your doc thinks that together they'll work better. Standard therapeutic (effective) dosage of EffexorXR is 150mg, and you said 75 so that's a half-dose, and you didn't say how much Celexa you're on...standard therapeutic dosage for that is 40mg.
If you're seriously questioning your dosages, you can call a pharmacy and ask for the pharmacist (not the technician!) and ask them...keep in mind, they fill dozens of prescriptions every day and it's very likely they've seen this particular combo in the past and can tell you what happened or even just what is most likely to happen. If you're embarassed/shy, you can even call and not give them a name or location, if you really wanted you could call one in another state and ask. :) You can also check www.rxlist.com for the standard dosages on stuff.

So: To sum up, as long as this is temporary and/or you're not taking full doses of both, don't worry about it. Your doc is NOT trying to kill you. If you've got serious worries about this combo, you can call his office or check with a professional pharmacist.

Good luck and feel free to nap, I remember Effexor being very sedating. :P
