Hi, One of the hardest, if not the hardest things is the trial and error process it takes to uncover the right combination. Your milage may vary, for example, I didnot gain weight on depakote, I lost some; also, I "released" some hair, but not a lot, and it stopped after about nine months. I also noticed the "dullness" to disappate after a dose was settled on, after a period of time (I'd have to look at my notes to figure it out), but then maybe that is me...it takes a long time for me to find things that work. Now, If something is NOT going to work (ie bad unacceptable side effects) that happens in the first month. For me, the 'dullness of depakote was acceptable, compared to the mood swings. It didnt help me 100%, but it helped me enough that I didnot want to stop taking it, and I was willing to put up with the dullness...I hope this make sense. I am writing to support you and encourage you to not give up, to try to find an answer. This is a difficult illness we have, with no easy answer.
