Hi,
I wonder if your waking mental imagery is colorless as well. Can you see in you mind's eye a red tomato, or a pink elephant? If you can, then your dreamcolor (black and white) is part of the dream meaning, and your perceptual systems are not affected per se.

My waking imagery was black and white when I was severely depressed. Dream images were not even black and white but a dull spectrum of gray. I wasn't even able to achieve crisp black and white contrasts. dreams were like seeing the world through a buttered lens. amazing.
