Try tapering off the med, rather than cold-turkey...? What is the dose you are taking?
I know many people have reported difficulty/withdrawl when stopping effexor...
fwiw, I went from 225mg to 0mg in just a few days, with no withdrawl. What I did was cut the dose in half every couple of days... Many, of course, need to taper much more slowly... Good luck.
